The past week was not kind to stocks, which fell by 0.9%. Bonds rose by 0.25%. But it’s summer time, the weather has been nice and I don’t think anyone’s thinking too seriously of sinking large amounts of money into the stock market, with the attendant stress. Is it time to put money into the market? I don’t think so. In September, we’ll get a far clearer picture of where the markets are likely to go over the coming months. For now, it’s time to take a break. Bonds still show more promise than stocks, and within stocks, the real estate sector still shows the most promise, despite a disappointing week. I’ll check in again next week.
